I WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW WHY PEOPLE KEEP DOG'S WITH KIDS AND WHY PEOPLE TREAT DOG'S THE SAME AS KIDS??????

PLEASE COULD SOMEONE EXPLANE AFTERALL THEY ARE JUST DOG'S (NOT THAT I WOULD LIKE ANY ANIMAL TO COME TO ANY HARM!!)

SO WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE THAT CHANCE HAVING DOG'S IN THE HOUS WITH KIDS , ALL DOG'S HAVE IT IN THEM TO BITE ITS PART OF THEIRE NATURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND THATS MY OPINION

IF THATS OK WITH THE OTHER MEMBERS ON THIS SITE AS NO DOUBT SOMEONE WILL HAVE SOMETHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!

A good parent wouldn't keep a large dog in with unsupervised young children; however not ALL dogs bite. All dogs can be provoked, but the end in some is just running away. However fear biting is another problem. Dogs can end up being like children to some people; they're companions and you can build a deep bond with them. The only difference is they don't live as long. You've obviously never enjoyed the company if you can't see that. In my opinion, dogs are better than kids.... kids are lil nasties.

On another note, find the caps lock and take a fourth grade spelling class.

HOW CAN U SAY ALL DOGS DONT BITE WHAT R U SILLY????

'DOGS CAN END UP LIKE CHILDREN' SOMEHOW I DOUBT IT VERY MUCH AFTERALL THEY ARE JUST DOGS!!!SILLY

Well, technically all dogs have the ability to bite. But their level of tolerance is another thing. It's important to always respect a dog; without respect it will turn to fear biting and then become exactly the dog you are basing your example off of. And yes, dogs are very loyal companions, though maybe I'm not the right one to say, I've never had a child but I have had a dog and they are just lovely.

All children can bite too, not to mention grab a stick and poke an eye out. Does that mean I can only have 1 child? After all, I've been bitten/injured by my brother more than I have by our dog (not once in the nine years we've had our rescue dog have I been bitten, same goes for the dog we had before that). Sure, a dog can take a sudden turn and injure the child, so can it's sibling. A car might one day hit my child as well, does that mean I can't take my kid to cross the road because it can get hit? Ovens can cause my kid to burn itself, better not cook anymore. Delivery from now on! ... wait, doors! When I open the door to accept the delivery to cook my child might get his hand stuck in the door ... guess that's out of the question as well.

I'm sure you get my point.

For a lot of people a dog becomes part of their family, and these people do love their pets as much as their children. Some people even *see* the pet as their child. Saying that people shouldn't take the risk of keeping a dog near a child because maybe 1 day it will bite is like saying you shouldn't ever have another child because the first one might get jealous and take a knife to the sibling. Accidents and danger are in every single corner. With or without a dog.

Why ask questions if you're not willing to listen to answers? You've already got one thread closed, let's see how long this one lasts.

Edited to add - I must point out I'm talking to Axor, not the people posting intelligently.

Let's keep the discussion to the pluses and minuses of having dogs with children. Please avoid harassing statments or comments that are irritating. Thanks...watching this thread. SH

It's all been said on the thread that got locked though Steal - they've just opened this one to carry on bickering in caps (despite being asked politely several times not to).

Dogs are great family pets, I have 5 kids and our dog has been with us for 6 years, so has been around while we had the triplets (4yrs old) and is a well loved family member. They are not the same as kids - I much prefer my dog to my kids LOL.

But you seriously cant argue with this person. They're trolling, and will continue to do so if you let this thread remain open. Just check out the insults (on this thread and the small dog thread) every time someone replies with an intelligent answer, they just chuck some names at them in caps.

Pleeeeease lock this thread.

You should watch After Thomas...

Parents couldn't find anyway to help their Autistic son develop empathy and language, almost given up hope and then they got a dog. In this case, the dog helped the son understand others and he improved dramatically past all expectations.

Along with this, in everyday situations they can also teach children responsibility and other valuable lessons in life.

There are always going to be a few cases of where a dog shouldn't be kept with children because of their nature or they've been hurt before and so aren't very predictable, but then the same can be said of parents themselves!
