One of my tiger barbs has been hiding in a cave for a couple of days now and I haven't seen it come out to eat at feeding time. It used to be active. Because it is hiding, I can only see it tail and it doesn't look injure at all. Is there something I can do to make it active again? I am worry that it will die soon.

Symptoms
Individual fish stay apart from others. Breathing is normal. They may refuse food. They may have "cloudy" or grey areas on the skin. There are no other physical signs.

possible causes
Lethargy and inappetence are common symptoms of many diseases, so further investigation is essential

1) Fish may be suffering from a parasite problem.

2) There could be internal disease problems

3) Early stage of systemic bacterial infection. Isolate and observe

4) Test core water parameters

Thanks for the advice. I should look for the cloudy/grey area now. This tiger barb has been inside a hollow tree trunk decor for a few days. It would be a challege to lure it out :p

try chasing him out with your hand
otherwise it is a case of netting him for a good look.

please keep us posted.

While im sure that it could be some sort of disease....It could also be other factors. How many other tiger barbs do you have with him?....I ask because ocassionally a lone tiger barb will be forced and bullied from the group and can become quite stressed and hide. I agree with Wolf when he says you should really get a good look at it.

I have a total of 6 tiger barbs. They love to chase each other around. I am not sure if this hiding one was bullied. Anyway, I managed to get it out of the hiding hole but I was unable to catch it into a net. I can't seem to find anything wrong from the appearance.
Let me show you some pictures (sorry, they aren't perfectly focus):

Can you see anything wrong with the fish? I found this one just look like the other.

it looks fine to me i would say its being bullyed by the rest of the group the best thing you could do is put it in another tank and feed it for a while so you know its healthy and if it does have a disease then it wont pass to the rest of the fish
