Why My Fish Keep Dying

I've been having some bad luck with fish dying. Recently buying new ones for a new tank and now they have ich. I have a lot of algae amounts and not sure why. The pH is measuring about 8 and temperature about 78. Is there any advice to get my tank back on the right track and limit fish dying?
