I'm so sorry for you loss, please don't think you did a bad job. Two years really is good for a betta. They're not the most long lived fish to begin with, and they're now really overbred and really prone to health problems, so it sounds like you did pretty well with him. Your water quality clearly wasn't a problem, so you'd done well. Please be kind to yourself!

Ok I will thank you. I had him for about a year and 4 months (thought I had him longer I found a receipt which said I bought him back in 2019 24th October). Thank you though. ?
