Why do I keep doing this to myself?

I promised myself I wasn't going to get any more bettas I didn't intended to breed. A little over a week ago I saw a lovely male at my local Walmart who looks exactly like Elise's Carp, but in a beautiful display of self control I left him sitting on the shelf. Yesterday I went to buy some dechlor and there he was... one of the last three males left out of a shipment of 20+. He was giving me the sad puppy eyes something fierce, and I kept thinking "He's ugly... no one will want him... he'll sit here for weeks and die in that little cup..."
You can guess what happened next

I think he's absolutely gorgeous, since I prefer odd/muted colours, but I'm sure you can see how the average person might find him a little less than beautiful
He's in my 10 gallon... yes, with my dwarf gourami. Normally that would be a horrible idea, but my gourami didn't bother the last betta that was temporarily housed in the tank with him, so I figured I'd give it a shot. So far so good, they just ignore one-another.

He's grey with slightly iridescent fins.. it's probably just the camera flash that makes him look purple

im decided to buy a few more bettas.but i need something cheap(less than 4 american dollars) to house them. must not take much space.okay. another thing.how to store male fry!!!!.same thing cant take much space

I thought that the combo of grey and the pearly fins was gorgeous when I first saw Carp.

um...if you don't have money or space then you shouldn't get anymore fish...and you definately don't need to breed, if that's what you mean by male fry.

The reason she dosen't have anymore room for bettas, is most likely because of the fry, and another reason is she's keeps some of the males and females for breeding. You should call your house Betta World!

Synnir, I had the EXACT same thing happen to me, the last boy, all brown and happy in his 1/4 gal dirty cup, I had the money, I don't have any bettas, so space is not a problem, but my mom dragged me out protesting and crying! He's cute, I love all your fishies!
