since I work at maidenhead, we are just off the garden centre and I must say its awesome lol

since its very very very snowy here its about 4" deep right now there werent a lot of customers in so we just sat around and ate celebrations and chocolate, then we built snowmen in the frozen over plant vats outside, then after that at closing time we all joined in, in an epic snowball fight whilst it was partially dark

Its a really really fun place to work but today was the best day lol

Its also a shame that over the past few months we haven't been doing so well, so in the new year my days will be cut :(

does anyone else enjoy their job? [fishy or not?]

It makes all the difference when you are doing something you enjoy , after 5 years of slave labour in a timber mill I left and became a support worker with people with mental illness and learning difficulties, the money is poor but you get an imense sense of satisfaction after each shift. Shame they are cutting your hours

I love my job, even though to most people it sounds boring. I work in a company that wholesales kids toys, and I get to do all sorts like PR, marketing, SEO, contract etc. I studied a law degree and it is great seeing the commercial stuff in action.

Yeah I am a total geek - and proud of it :D

It really makes a difference if you work with great people. Working with people you don't get on with just makes everything twice the effort, I am sure giant snowball fights are very bonding! XD

the people you work with do make all the difference, wont see em much in the new year though =[

'Yeah I am a total geek - and proud of it' that makes 2 of us then

aye the snowball fight helped lol i was fmg'ing the systems when then all ran outside lol so i had to get my gloves off quick so i got blue stained wrists, it was boys v girls [i like to think we won :p]

I love my job too. I'm a relatively new mental health therapist working with severely mentally ill and the "worried well" and everything inbetween. I used to be a university econ teacher, but went for a giant pay cut to do what I really am much more suited to do. This therapist job brought me to the fish world and to you guys as well. Had read the impact of fish tanks on anxiety and depression. Works too. Since putting in the tank a month ago (was a used cycled tank), many of my clients have remarked on how peaceful and calm they become staring into the tank.

God my tank has been a huge source of stress...i guess looking but not having to worry about the maintenance makes all the difference

I work at a ski mountain/ lodge. In one of the chalet kitchens. I don't like the work, its not hard just boring. Need a job though, and at least with this one I get a free $400 season lift pass and discount on rental. Skiing is tons of fun. If its busy then the work is OK, its when things get slow and the hours creep by.

Yesterday was a little slow, but the ski patrol was driving one of the lodge truck around. IDK what they were doing, but they got the truck stuck in the snow at the bottom of one of the main hills. We watched them trying to get the truck free for about an hour. Eventually they had to pull out with one of the big snow groomers. Silly thing is we have a fleet of snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. Trucks are for transporting supplies/garbage between the 5 lodges.

It is nice to know I help people have a fun time. Especially during festivities. Towards the end of the season we have a day or two of water skipping, thats probably the best. Nothing like watching people try to ski/board across icy water. If they make it across or not its still fun  .

If your tank is a source of stress, you are going about it all wrong FinalFantay. I sometimes need to do a bit of physical work to keep my tanks healthy, like water changes and such, but there is no stress involved in dropping a bit of food in each day and just watching the fish. Even with as many tanks as I have, the daily chores don't add up to even a half hour of almost mindless work. If you don't like what you see in an established tank, do a water change and things almost always will get better. Don't try to keep fish that are "hard to keep or rare", instead get some of the most common of the fish at the LFS and just enjoy them. As Karin said, fish are very relaxing to have in your home.

second, but if i was going for a rare fish, i wouldnt make it so rare that if it dies it will kill your wallet. just "uncommon" for me. and most fish are easy to keep so no probs there!

It's relaxing now but when i set it up i knew nothing and so of course did what the LFS said and set it up for a week then added fish. Fish started getting ill and dying several weeks down the line as i added more and more then luckily found you guys and managed to get it sorted.

I won't be replacing the guppies tho, can't say i'm that fond of them. Pretty to look at but just don't interest me like my copper harlequins do.

The job I have now is the worst I hate it but the money is good. I'm Cocktail server at a casino. But I have had great jobs and the people you work with really make it fun. My full time job as A mom is the best. hard at times but always worth it.

One of my best jobs was snowboard instructor I got to ride for free and make some money. I got to play with little kids in the snow all day. I could act like a kid. I miss it but it did not pay well and seasonal. I did that for 4 seasons I was a snowbum.

Lifeguard at a water park. I got to take the water slides down to my break. Also I got to work on a rollercoaster and that was fun too.

Vet tech that was a very rewarding job but also smelly and sad.

i go to school and when itsnowes we hget shouted at for snowing snow balls so no i dont like school too many health and safety tings >.<

karin
Funny thing is my job got me back into having a tank. Was at a "client/service user" house one evening and the guy had a tank set up, he wasn't sure how to deal with the maintenance side of things so we set about a water change , filter clean etc, next day I was on the internet looking at fish and within a week I was dropping some strong hints lol
My tank is my form of therapy :good:

Well i've just started working at a pet store and am liking it so far the people I work with are good and I get to share some wisdom with customers when they are willing to listen, i'm always satisfied when someone takes the time to listen and ask questions :)

Sucky thing is doing registers I HATE that when its slow all you do is stand there board as crap atleast in fish I can go through the tanks make sure everything is healthy and stare at all of them listening to the sound of the filters :)

my job friggin sucks, i chicken catch, but the people i work with are pretty cool, which is the only thing that makes it worth it, and when we are 'euthanizing' them, then we get our revenge on the dumb birds who scratch us all the time, those jerks! lol

edit:eek:h another thing that makes it worth it is the pay, $25/hour at 16 years old isnt bad...
