but seriously if you really are telling the truth you need to get those piranhas back to the store asap.

if you really want to keep them invest in a bigger tank of about 5ft x 2f x 2ft, cycle it properly, plant it then think about adding some piranhas and certainly not 18

theres lots of info on piranhas here try reading it

Don't flush them down the toilet as suggested either take them back to the store or put a post on here to see if anyone wants to take them off your hands, its not the fishes fault you were wrongly sold them.

I dont think that is very fair. If the OP has indeed trusted his LFS's advice, how can he be ignorant by following the directions of someone who is a supposed expert? You yourself would not like to be called ignorant as you have not seen it from this point of view!

It is IF but until it is certain one way or the other names should not be called! Tolak said further up the thread that the OP had spent time reading the acticles that were recommended. If it was a wind up why would the OP be educating themselves on something they had already done? IMO I believe the OP.

I`m not saying they are or they`re not, however I personally find it strange that pork scratching s are fed....maybe it`s purely from my own ignorance but I just find that quite strange.

I`m on the fence...can`t say the splinters are comfortable but it`s much easier

I agree.

We all know from bitter experience what terrible info some LFS give out; it's not beyond the realms of possibilty...although in terms of fishkeeping epic fails, this is the hugest, most massive epic fail I've ever come across.

@elisew; yes, the pork scratchings blew my mind as well; I mean, there's no actual meat in them is there? And the salt and fat?! The mind boggles...

hmmmmm,a pet rock would cut down on water changes.Where can these be obtained??
I saw an african lungfish for sale as a community fish a few months ago,so,I do agree with some others here that an lfs MAY have been the cause of all this,if real

Lol pet rock sounds great but it doesn't feed often? And I think its nocturnal as it doesn't move in the day!

Honestly though how many common/gibbies plecs have we seen in 30l tanks and such because the LFS said they will be fine and are a good algae eater!

Remember a person who asks a silly question is a fool for 10 minutes, a person who doesn't ask the question is a fool for a lifetime! We should go easy on newbies we were all there once!

Anyone who would feed fish pork scratchings (and im pretty sure he didnt get that information from a fish shop - they would be more likely to try and sell him their products!!) or who would flush live fish down a toilet is in my opinion a total ignorant pea brain
