Got Bob the Betta on Saturday (my first ever betta!). He settled well into his new tank, and has stopped flaring at the filter. He sits on the plants and eyeballs me when I potter around the kitchen. I've made it a point to look at him, then lift the lid and feed him (rather than just chuck food down the little hole in the lid) so he comes to associate me with food (and loves me   aww).

Anyhow, I think it worked too well!!! I came down this morning, turned his light on, turned away to feed the cat who was squeaking, and the little beggar flared at me. He was staring at me furiously and waggling his fins in rage!!!! Needless to say, the cat got dumped and Bob got his pellets straight away!

Also love that little snakey dance he does..... he always seems to be saying "I may be tiny, I may be a girly colour, but I don't care coz I ROCK and you betta believe it"

Do your bettas rule the roost too? Is it okay for him to flare when I don't serve breakfast quickly enough? He won't stress himslef out will he?

LOL
My animals rule at my house too.
All the animals get fed in the morning and in the evening before any humans do.
Before I even get my comfy clothes on, I run around the house first flipping on tank lights, then dropping pellets and whatever else the schedule says they get for treats that day, then spend a good 15 minutes playing with each one.

THEN I call and order pizza.
