Just wondering how many people are paranoid about the ammount of algae in there tanks.

I welcome algae to my tanks to grow on the wood and I'm not bothered about the glass, I just scrap the front panel when I know someones coming round to look at the fish or if I'm doing a photo shoot.

so Nope, not me is my vote!

I said Yes, but not too fussed. I don't mind a bit, but when it gets in scratches that I can't clean very easy, it's a bit annoying. I'm not one to specifically clean out the tank for a spot of algea

Green algae, what's that? Not something you're going to get the with the Juwel lighting, that's for sure. Now if you'd said brown algae....

Actually, I'd go with the not-too-fussed vote. If I can live with the rest of my messy house....

Same goes for snails. I have a couple of pond snails crawling around, the first came in with the plants when I set up the tank, but I see no evidence that they are planning to take over the world.

Well I voted "yep, very annoying" but in fact I would have loved an option "I HATE algae" :grr:

On second thought: make that Hate, hate hate algae !

yep but not too fussed. it's nearly impossible to have no algae in a planted tank. too much light and nutrients. a little is okay as it has a more natural feel to the tank. the second it starts to take off then my vote changes to HATE the stuff.

the odd tuft of green algae on bogwood gives the whole tank an aged look which i like. hair algae all over your leaves however spoils everything.

yes, annoys the hell out of me. I might not be too fussed if it was a little bit. But I have tonnes :-( bloody stuff. I also seem to have every algae type there is :/

I voted Nope. Mainly because I don't get a lot of algae. The only time it became a problem was when I purposefuly tried to get some going and then ended up not getting the otos I had planned. Even when algae does grow though, I think it adds a natural feel and is a good snack for many of my fish. Plus it uses up nitrAtes so I'm happy. :)

I voted no and welcome algea. As soon as any of the tanks has a nice layer the baby BN's move in and clean it right up overnight!

I can send you your own personal clean up crew if you like :p

Oh I'd love nothing more, but just also need the extra space to go with them please !

Over the past couple of years (and ever since I've joined this forum :grr: ) my taste in fish (uh no pun intended) has slightly changed. I'm now "stuck" with fish (hey as much as I love them) I'd now rather rehome - but in some cases it's not all that easy and feasible.

I'll just have to wait a year till I buy a house (fingers crossed) and quite obviously I'll only buy a house that can support a massive tank on the ground floor and has space in the garage (don't have a car so no risk of fumes!) or garden to incorporate some extra tanks :p
