I just wanted to hear from everyone else who owns a Betta who it he/she gets along with?

In my tank I have an African Dwarf Frog and an Otocinclus. So far so good!

Have you tried any tankmates with your Betta that didn't work out?

RIP my beloved white cloud minnows. Haha.

Let's hear it!

whew bettas, huge list. get some popcorn and get comfortable :fun: lol
otocinclus
cories
neons
rummy nose
non-fancy guppes
mosquito fish
upside down catfish
cardinal tetras
and a few other tetras
discus
angelfish
and a few others
NOTE: some fish may not be able to live in a betta tank. how big is it, what is the temp, pH, etc.

Bettas do NOT mix well with Blue Gouramis. I learned that one the hard way...

Betta's also don't like minnows that much.

I got some white cloud ones. Teeny tiny.

Within a week, they all were missing heads.

Haha. Yikes!

Most types of tetra are awful fin nippers so those are out, angelfish are a big nono, as are discus. To be honset peaceful bottom feeders and otos are the best bet.

one of mine is in with cories, he went to flare at tham but swam away instead  my other 2 live alone

My plakat gets along fine with 3 ADF's who hide amongst the moss balls.

There are also 2 khuli loach living under the bogwood in his tank, who neither i nor he rarely ever see.

My three remaining betta's live alone and i suspect this is how they like it, my plakat is much more tolerant than his fellow bettas.

My betta gets on great with all the fish in my tank (balloon mollies, silver sharks, otocynclus, cory and guppies) but he HATES the blue gourami with a passion. Fortunately the gourami keeps out of his way most of the time but god forbid if he sees him!

nononono. what are u basing this off of. most of those recommendations are a DISATER with a betta.

PLEASE dont listen to this post. it's not completely inaccurate but tells you how things go wrong with bad stocking.

Bettas do well with small bottom dwellers and SOMETIMES other fish. Ideally a male betta will be solitary. but sometimes you can introduce fish.

My recommendation. Get some Otos and see how ur betta reacts. This is IMO the best tank mate you can have with a male betta. Reason being, they are fast and not "nippy" in the least bit. They feed off algea. If and when the betta goes for them they can scatter.

I've had bettas catch the poor guys b4 tho.

As with any fish, it is circumstantial on the attitude of your betta. Some get along just fine in tetra community tanks. Some try to eat everything.

They truly have their own personalities. example: my largest (almost 3" from head to tail) has been living with a few otos for 7 months. i just set up a 75 gallon tank and put an 3" oscar in it. from a distance of about 1/2 foot he looked like he was ready to kill the Oscar. They are inclined to fight after all.......
