Hi guys,

A few evenings ago when sat with my girlfriend just watching my fish going around their daily business (as we do too often - is it just us that lose hours to the fish?), we considered that each of the different species forms an integral part of the community and tried to imaging the equivalent in our own society.

So who is who in your tank?

In mine it is definately as follows:

Loaches: Definately the kids of the tank - probably at school in a cave part of the day but spending the rest of the time up to mischeif.

Harelquins: Definately the houswives. They hang around in a small group stopping here and there for a cup of tea and a natter.

Neon Tetras: These are the office workers.

Ottos: These are the manual workers.

Golden Gourami: The higher class people, have enough money from inheritance to not need to work and enjoy their estate in the corner of the tank.

Pearl Gourami: The royalty. Figureheads of the comunity.

Torepedo Barbs: The politicians. The swim around talking to everyone after having the occasional chase they seem to sort out their ideas of how the tank should be run - they are definately run the tank.

Silver Sharks: The police and legal department, making regular checks and keeping everyone else in order. They like to think that they are in charge and on a daily basis they probably are, however they bow to the torpedos when they wish to change a policy.

I also spend hours just looking in my tank.

In my community tank -

My Keyhole - The mafia boss of the tank and if you go to his territory BAM you got a hit on you :p

My Bolivian Ram - The pushover of the tank, everyone bosses him around, even the tetras :p

My Nijsseni Apisto - The right hand man of the Keyhole, always getting aggresive about his area and spends his days scaring the Bolivian :p

Neons (Black and Blue) - The kids, always playfully nipping eachother and chasing eachother around the tank

Harliquins - The foriegners, always exploring and checking out new things and meeting new fish... over and over and over again :p

Pristilla Tetra - The teenagers of the tank, always causing trouble and keeping to themselves and never letting anyone come along with them
And thats about it :)

Good idea for a thread(i think its been done, but still cool :) )

In the 15, the khulis are just... there. No one notices them, attacks them, anything. Likewise, they just silently slither around the bottom. The two tetras, ones dominant (as you'd expect with only two) and absolutely demands first go at the food. Kieow (betta) occasionly has a little go at the tertas, but he's just to preoccupied with his juvie playfulness :D. In the 20, the two female zebra danios rule the roost, then come the female leopards, then the male leopards.
