Whitish place on rope fish nose

My daughter noticed a whitish square on our rope fish’s nose. He also seems to have spells where he acts crazy zipping back/forth/up/down as well as scratching on things like he’s itching. I’ll post a picture....ignore the black spot (algae on glass).

That looks like natural coloration to me...

If fish rub up against stuff, it usually means they have ich. Have you noticed any white spots?

No white spots on anyone yet, but I will keep my eye out!

Here again, it may be something different. I’ve never cared for rope fish before.

Does it appear to be under the skin? Like a scrape? Or does it look like it’s part of him?
