If you sit in a room with 50 people all heavily smoking cigarrettes, cigars and pipes, you "might" not get lung cancer but the experience definately is not pleasant and its definately stressfula nd not good for you. The fish and other creatures are being exposed to ths type of envrionment during the tank cycle. Ammonia is poisonous, its deadly in fact and just because the fish "look" ok doesnt mean they are ok.
