White Spot

Please urgent help. In my 3 gallon swordtail only fry tank, white spot affected some of the fries. Especially the eldest among them is suffering at the moment She lost half of her caudal fin and stopped eating today. I detected white spot on her 4 days ago and yesterday started curing her. First added salt (edible), then increased temp to 31C and now added Rivanol (local pet store recommended). Do you think I will lost them??? Or in how many days I should expect to see positive results? And also should I release her from this breeding box? I think it stresses here more, but I was trying to seperate smaller fries from her. Now she does not have that energy to even harass :$

what is rivanol?

you only need to get the water temperature to 30C for a couple of weeks, or at least 1 week after all the white dots have gone.

if you use chemicals with heat, the fish can suffocate because medications and heat both reduce the oxygen level in the water. mixing these 2 also puts the fish under a great deal of stress.

the fish is pretty badly infected and it will be at least a week before it is free of the problem.

what is rivanol?

It's an antiseptic stuff, back in Poland it's used on wounds on people and sometimes big animals (mainly on farms, as rivanol is rather cheap). I would NOT use it in a fish tank, it just doesn't seem to be the right thing.
