I've been having a really bad problem with white spot, I've been treating it with a med for white spot. It tends to disappear for a week or two than come back with avengance.

I do regular water changes.

I followed all the instruction for the meds even treated the tank for 2 week, just to make sure, but it still came back.

Has anyone got any ideas, I've treated it before a couple of years of ago and it disappeared with no problems. Has any one got any ideas,

Its also heavy planted tank and I don't really want to have to take it all out. But I can't think of what to do about it.

I'VE BEEN TREATING IT WITH INTERPET WHITE SPOT TREATMENT AND THE TEMP IS ABOUT 26 C,

I'VE JUST TOOK THE CARBON PART OF THE FILTER OUT, DO YOU THINK THAT MIGHT HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT.

The carbon will remove the meds from the water, so if you were medicating whilst it was still in there it wouldn't have been working properly!

Good luck with yours! I'm treating mine at the moment too.

I THOUGHT AS MUCH (ABOUT THE CARBON), SO THAT COULD HAVE BEEN MY PROB ALL ALONG. I'VE TREATED IT IN THE PAST WITH NO PROB ITS BEEN GIVING ME A RIGHT HEADACHE.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU WITH YOUR WHITE SPOT,

knock it up to 80 to 81 for a week and treat with ws 1 at the same time that should put pay to it aerate well as higher temps means less oxygen in the water

good luck biff

IT WAS MY WHITE TIP TETRAS THAT HAD IT, NONE OF THE OTHERS HAVE SHOWN ANY SIGNS OF IT.

EVERY ONE OF THEM DIED TODAY, BUT AM STILL TREATING THE WATER JUST IN CASE.

You should slowly raise the temp of the tank up to about 29-30degree's C (raising the tanks temp by about 1 degree a day), this will spead up the parasites life cycle and allow you to kill it off with meds quicker (as the parasite has many life cycles, some of which make it resistant to meds). When treating whitespot you should treat the tank for a minimum of 2weeks and at least treat for one more week after that to make sure it is truely gone, and you should not buy anymore fish for a further fortnight after that (since new fish are more vunerable to picking up diseases/parasites, you don't want the whitespot to make a come back in your aquarium).
The carbon sponge in the filter would have absorbed any meds you put in the tank and prevented them from working.

This article on whitespot and how it works and the best ways to kill it off in the link below may be of some interest to you;

Why dont you try CopperSafe? It is a grerat med, adn has taken care of my white spot in 1 day!!!! There are still a few dot's, but it is really doing the trick!

I'VE NEVER HEARD OF COPPERSAFE, I'LL GIVE IT A TRY. CAN IT BE USED WITH THE WHITE SPOT TREATMENT OR ON ITS OWN.

ONE OF MY NEONS HAS GOT WHITESPOT AS WELL, SINCE I TOOK THE CARBON FILTER OUT IT NOW SEEMS TO BE WORKING.

BUT FOR SOME I REALISED TO LATE
