I have a platy that’s got a white spot on her lip, it's been like this for 4-5 weekes, her mouth is not entirely straight due to this, the spot doesn’t seem to get any better or worse. She eats, moves okay, is friendly. I have treated the tank with Myaxicin, Melafix but still the spot is there no better or worse, my tank is cycled. I have now moved the fish to my hospital tank and put her in brakish water. I am sorry but don't have any pictures. Does anyone know what it could be? as I would of thought if she had columaris she would be dead my now and the other fish would also have it but they don't.

I should add, I have x8 Platys, x5 Cherry Bard, 5 Cherry Shrimps in a 20 gallon, there are no ammonia, nitrite, and low nitrates readings.

Does the white spot have any redness around the edges, or centre of the spot.
Columnaris spots can take a while to kill fish, also there hard to get rid off.

There a med called furanol 2, but I would only use it in isolation as it wipes the bacteria out in the filter.
Or you could try esha 2000.

You would have to do a water change and run some black carbon, before changing meds.

Can't see any redness, just a big white spot. I have searched and unable to get furanol 2 in the UK, but found esha 2000, my hospital tank is 5 gallons how much will I need as comes in 20ml, 180ml, 2000ml, 1000ml.

Thanks

Lex

I removed the fish from the tank to have a good look and there is no redness just a white spot.

Have found a place that sells furanol 2, but I won't receive it till the 27.03.10 as there waiting on a delivery, would this be the best option? Also should I just remove the filter and use an air pump?

You could remove the filter. But you would have to place it in a bucket with tank water and keep it running.
Would really need a heater in the bucket aswell.. Then you would have to add a pinch of flakes every day to keep the bacteria alive.

I would just use the furanol 2 in the 5 gal.

The dosage instruction will be in the instruction.
For small isolation tanks you just use a piplette supplied with the med for small dosage.
