Hi, firstly thanks for the very useful info on treating whitespot/ich. I have a small mixed tank (12 uk gall)and one of my gouramis has what I am confident is whitespot. It statrted on her feelers, and the top of her head and has spread onto her side fins near her gills and some small white pinhead like spots on her upper body with some that are slightly more pink on her lower body. I did the large water change and vacummed the gravel as much as I coud increased the temp and have been treating every other day as per instructions with King bristish White Spot Control. Although she seems a little better than she was and is eating and loooks failry well in herself the spots don;t seem to be dissapearing. Some days she seem a lot better and then there seems to be a new outbreak with a few extra spots.Does it normally take this long. It says not to do a water change unitl the problem is cured but Im getting a little worried about water quality with the other tabk mates - a fewwguppies and 4 cardinal tetras and 2 Corys. I have been treaing now for just over two weeks!
Any other advice? At least she seems no worse and none of the others have caught it.
Thanks

you could really do with isolating the fish, so you can use stronger meds, as the kingbrittis WS3 is fairly lethal to corrys as is salt (another good cure for WS.

you could also try giving the fish a salt bath. simply mix some declored water (at a similar temp to the tank) and then add some aquarium salt. to the water and bath the fish for a few miniutes.... before scooping it out of the bath into the tank (don`t add the salt water to the tank

I've found Waterlife Protozin to be a very reliable cure for whitespot. Been using it for many years and it has always cleared it up after one course of treatment (even with clown loach). It is a probably a good idea to do a fairly large water change before starting the course as you shouldn't do any during the course and good water quality is important when treating the fish. You should use half recommended dose if you have corries or any plecs.

If using a salt bath how much salt should I add to say 1ltr of water?
Although there is still no improvement as such I still haven't lost any more either. Have just done a 50% water change and removed all plants ornamemnts etc for cleaning as well as a meg vac on the gravel.
Can't isoalte this fish as I;ve discovered when we put some things in sotrage during our move I muyst have put a few fishy bits in I meant to keep handy grrr!
