It might be some of the yeast mix from the canister. I had something simialr around the plastic bubble outlet and realised I'd filled the canister with a little too much water, causing it to escape.

Is there anything around the plastic tube/outlet on the diffuser?

This happens quite alot. "The mysterious goo". Isn't harmful as far as we know. Having a bubble counter can stop it accumulating on the diffuser. It just accumulates in the bubble counter instead. Im convinced that my snails and shimp eat it.

And possibly get drunk? :D I'm thinking garden slugs attracted too beer here... ;)

hi thanks if i clean it in a weak bleach solution would i go
and also what is the solution for the bleach mixture how many cups of water too how many cups of bleach....

Soaking it in the bleech solution should work.
The ratio is 1 part bleech:20 parts water. I doubt you will be using cups, unless you're soaking a tank

1 part is just the ratio.
OK, say you wanted to make a solution of 200ml. 10ml of that would be bleach, 190ml would be water.

I think that's right :look:

1 part is basically 1 measure of however much water you use. It could be 1 tsp bleach to 20 tsp water, so you could have 5 tsp of bleach and 100 tsp water (if you fancy a lot of measuring :D).

As long as you measure out the bleach and the water with the same measure, and mix them 1 measure of bleach to 20 measures of water you'll be ok.

Also, if you're using "thick" bleech the measurements may be different, as I think its concentrated. Someone else comment on this?

wouldn't that be 1:19? It would be 10ml bleach and 200ml Water wouldn't it? Sorry, I failed GCSE maths 3 times so I'm probably wrong :D

For tomorrows maths lesson we will be discussing Quantum Theory and longitudinal equations... Have your compasses and protractors ready :good:

I had this in my tank as well and stuck some of it on a slide and had a look through a microscope. It was made up of long thin filaments and therefore some type of mould/fungus and not yeast (which looks completely different).
