White lump on betta's face.

I am babysitting Phish, my girlfriend's betta. He has developed a white bubble/lump looking thing on just under his mouth on his jaw.

Any idea what this is and how do I treat it?
 
is it like a fleshy lump, or could it be some kind of moldy/fungus like growth? if its some kind of fungus, some diluted melafix would fix it up. if it looks as if its growing out fomr the inside of the fish it could be a tumor of some kind, older fish seem to get them pretty often.
 
The lump is still there. It appears to be a lump in his flesh..sort of like a pimple. He is eating and is very active. Tried some Bettafix to no avail.
