I am in the process of starting up my first salt tank. Unfortunately some white lines have developed on the glass that are rather stubborn. I tried removing them with a magnetic cleaner, unfortunately this makes a stomach turning screeching noise. I tried a new out of the package brush I had picked up last week and the same thing. The little bit I did get off seems to float in the water as little particles.

Any thoughts?

thanks!

Are the lines inside or outside, and is the tank full of water?

Sorry, that was rather foolish not to mention! They are on the inside and the tank is full of water. The lines do seem to maintain the same height all the way around the tank, covering the four sides...

if it is glass, you might want to take a razorblade to it, that will remove just about anything. :good:

Tempered glass doesnt scratch very easily at all. remember since its a bow front you can only really effectively scrrape from left to right or vice versa. an up-dowm motion wont work so well :)

razor works great - thanks!

I believe the lines where caused by filling the tank (i.e it shows where you took time between pouring buckets) therefore the white lines are the sediment and salt (very fine) that floated on the top between buckets.

Cheers
Matt

BTW It happened to me too and I found that they disappeared in time AFTER I started heating the water
