White Growth On Pleco...

Well i officially have found that he has the Columnaris. I hope he gets better though. I'm going out today to get more medication for him and hopefully this will treat him and rid him of the infection.

Here is an updated picture of my common pleco. I do believe he seems to be getting better. I will be upgrading him to a 55gallon so i hope that will make him happy.

I'm glad to hear he's improving and that he's getting a bigger home. Has he always had the slightly deformed head (forgive me if I'm wrong, it just looks a bit deformed on the photo - it might just be the angle)? He looks like Kermit, a plec we bought that had been stunted and was deformed. Kermit coped pretty well with it though, and if your lad is eating well he should be okay too, although I was warned they dont correct as they grow.

I'm pretty sure it's just the angle the picture is at. It was the only way to really show his infection.

I thought that too... the head is too rounded... It should be a lot pointier

Yep the shortened, domed nose with the mouth being more underslung than usual hinted he was like Kermit, as did the small size given his age. Unfortunately these facial deformities apparently don't "grow out", but plecs can live with them if they're not severe. Kermit seemed to cope fine, he was a fat little sod *lol*.

Will this hurt his lifespan, growing or eating behavior? I never knew that he really looked that much differently to be honest!

Okay so he is getting better but I have been treating him for almost 3 weeks soon! Is it okay that it is taking this long to treat him?

Anyone think this is to long for him to not be healing up??
