I have a sunrise platy (who doesn't appear sick) which has had white like fluff to length of base of tail fin for approx 3 months and has not responded to treatment: melafix, primafix and most recently 4 weeks treatment with interpret treatment anti fungus and finrot. Another platy has now started developing it on the upper body fin and fins appear to be fraying and not herself. Has anybody got any ideas for successful treatment and what it is?????????.

For 3 months?! Thats a long time to be treated and not have any improvement.
Is your fish eating?
Is it hiding abnormally?
Rubbing and scratching against objects? If so, which I doubt it, they could have Ich.
Wikipedia it if your not sure.

No doesn't look like ich - not dandruffy or progressing from her tail base - she is fine none of the fish are flicking or hiding and all eating normally. Although the other platy is slow at coming out to feed and not herself

General body funugs possibly.

Body Fungus info
Wow those pics looks nasty,
But it is a good site, and that sounds like the sickness your looking for. Its good they give pictures too.

"Many formulations available, including brand names: Jungle Fungus Guard, Mardel Maroxy, Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Fungus Cure and generic formulations usually containing methylene blue."
