Ok last week i set up my pfk nano with gravel and a peice of red moor wood, stuck a filter and heater in and left them running, not used the light as i have no plants in yet and im still building the diy co2 system. I turned my light on earlier and noticed a white gel like substance in various places on my wood, looks like a fungus type thing, bit like those white balls of spiders eggs you get? theres no little eggs in it or anything but its got like a similar look.

Any ideas what that is anyone?

Does it look something like this?

Nope its more like blobs of gel really, any ways ive emptied the water out the tank as it was tanin stained because i only bothered soaking the wood for 24 hours before putting it in, and im washing the wood and its now soaking for longer in a bucket.

Hey there, I had the problem not long ago. It was everywhere, driftwood, walls, plants, gravel, you name it. It's like the wood is shedding, and is normal. It clears up in about 4-7 days.
