I have on a piece of my driftwood a white fungus looking substance is this dangerous for my fish?

If so what do I do?

Pictures? Without positive identification can't really say.

Is it a fuzzy looking fluffy kind of thing? :S
I've had it on a few pieces of wood with no problems but i'm not sure if it's dangerous or not and i've just been lucky.

If you can't get a picture up, i'll try one of mine so you can compare.

Yes its exactly that unfortunately I'm not around a camera so I could show you guys I only have it on one piece of wood I just don't want it to spread

Has your driftwood only recently been introduced in to your tank because I've got something that sounds similar on some new wood in my new tank. If its the stuff I'm thinking of it should be easily removed when you do a gravel vac and will stop coming back after a few weeks. I'll try get a pic of mine for comparison.

Here you go, luckily I have a friend staying who has a really good camera.

Well its not new new wood I've had it for about 2 months now in the tank and this had just come up now about 2 days ago

I would still try remove it up when you clean your substrate. Chances are it is the same stuff and if your wood's been in the tank for a couple of months without any harm coming to your fish then it does sound harmless. Maybe different types of wood produce this stuff after different lengths of time. I've had bog wood and mopani wood that has never had this stuff and yet the redmoor has done. I've also had it appear on that black Roman gravel that you can buy in a certain chain pet store and it went away after a few weeks.

That's exactly what it looks like and I didn't have it for long I've only had it for about 2 days how cash I make it go away

It will go away. Just vac it up when you do your tank maintenance and in a couple of weeks or so you'll realise it hasn't come back.
