White (fungal?) Path On Fish' Tail Fin

I spotted the Rosy Barbs having a couple of pecks at him, and thought, this isn't fair on it. I simply put it in the toilet, and it was upsetting to see it still trying to swim, but I turned away and flushed the handle and it went first time.

I still feel bad about flushing it whilst partially alive, but I guess it's for the best.

Is it common for some fish to go a bit quiet when something like a small net enters the tank? The other fish of it's kind (3 others), are much quieter since the net entered.

Never flush a fish it one of the most horrid things to do they die an awful death down the toilet, but it done now.
Next time get on the board they will tell you how to do it correctly.
R.I.P. Little guy.

Oh, I didn't know it was so bad, I just assumed because it was weak the force of the water would kill it quickly. This is the first I've flushed whilst still alive, any others have gone when dead.

Should I be worried that the other fish of its species are much quieter? They were fine before I used the net to free the infected fish. Could it just be that they're a bit shaked by the strange thing entering their tank, or could they be infected. They all look healthy.

Fish get stressed at the sight of a net, did it take a while to catch him as it just stresses the other fish out abit, they should be ok.

It did, simply because he was in between a rock and plant, and hard to manouvre the net between the two to get at him, resulting in me gently nudging him into open waters to scoop up easily.

They're now close together, so perhaps they're gaining some confidence. Hopefully they'll be OK for tonights feeding time, they love their food, go crazy over it.

Fish don't like you messing about in the tank is stresses them out, but they will be ok, hope they enjoy tonight tea, good luck.

Thanks for all the help you've given me, even if things didn't work out so well this time, at least I know what to do next time.

Thanks. :)

If it was columnaris then the others should show signs in the next 24 hours. You need a bacterial med for it not a fungal one. What is the temperature of your tank?

Is it definately columnaris?

Temperature is 26 degrees C.

I would just add the finrot med for now, it is for columnaris not bad med if the desease in not a nasty strain.
You meant to turn the temp down with columnaris so the bacteria dosn't mulitply to fast.

I haven't got a clue how to do that with my heater, hopefully my Dad will have an idea. How far should it be turned down?

Also, should some more of the med be added tonight, to try and keep things down?

Fish are much perkier now, barbs as healthy as ever and the silver ones back to normal.

Just turn it down one knotch that about two degrees, add the med if you want its up to you i cant see the fish, just some water changes can help.

Thanks, if I see some early signs I'll add some in ASAP.

Asked my Dad whether to put some more meds in last night, and he was wary because of hoping not to overdose, and seeing as there were no signs of fungus, it wasn't worth the risk.

Fish are fine this morning, all swimming around and fed well.

Just keep an eye on the fish, good luck.
