White Fluffy Balls! Help

im cycling my tank and just noticed when i came home from work all these small white fluffy balls on the gravel and plants.anyone any idea what this is ?/

i had live plants in it but didnt like them so took them out and put plastic plants in if that helps.

i agree, i've had small cotton-wool type balls forming from rotting food
 
Is it a fishless cycle? if its mould spores perhaps you should pop on airstone in the tank to circulate the water?
 
its a fish in cycle.i feed the catfish pellets but havnt seen them eating so maybe its the pellets rotten.would they be bad for the fish?
 
i used to get them too, turned out it was left over betta food! Scoop them out!!
