Hi

Just curious to know what others are using? Seeking an inexpensive user friendly yet accurate one, not to stick on the inside of tank as the filter and heater are enough, I'd rather see more fish life than equipment.

Thanks in advance

The one I use isn't inexpensive but I've been using it now for over five years. I've had to replace the battery a few times but other than that, I've been quite happy with it. I have many tanks, so it's probably a worthwhile expense. If you just have one tank, you probably won't find it worth spending the money on.

Thanks. One 45L tank here, don't intend to get any more. Be interested in more replies to see what others are using and recommend too.

Just go for a spirit thermometer, you can't go wrong, better than standard digital ones unless you pay loads for one.

An alcohol thermometer which is intended for inside the aquarium, some can be very small and discreet (for example, only 5 mm wide and 10 long).

The ones which are for sticking outside the tank usually measure the temperature of the room as much as the water and are a bit difficult to read (not that it matters, given how inaccurate they are). The in-tank digital thermometers, from what I understand, are accurate, but only as long as they are calibrated regularly.

I agree with KK, and I always stick mine in the side back corner. That way it is not an eye sore at the front of your tank, but still easy to read with a quick peek to the side of the tank

Showes both C and F temps by sliding the slider along under the screen, its very accurate it does have a sucker on the end next to the probe but a suppose u can just cut it off or hide it at the back of the tank and just hand the probe into the water of put the far down in the water and hide the probe behind a piece of decor or plant and u will just see the cable

I picked up a digital cooking thermometer. It reads both C and F temps, and is very accurate. Only cost me about $5 if I remember. Wouldn't have been much more because I'm so tight with money!

My thermometer always comes off the glass and i dont know why..
The plastic has probably gone bad, grown algae on it or your glass is not clean. If it's either of the two, replacement suction cup things can be bought.

I use that on one of my tanks and feel it is accurate and quick at reporting temperature changes.

I use this one in my other tank and it also works just as well: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/251264/product.web
