Which Shrimp?

I was just wondering which shrimp i should buy for my tank. I am interested in challenges and coloration.

Is the tank currently stocked with any fish?

Also do you know your water stats? Shrimps can be sensative creatures and it would help to find shrimp that will like your water conditions (pH, hardiness etc).

Having said that, the red cherry shrimp is pretty adaptable so I would recommend that shrimp as a starter shrimp.

I can get a new tank and change everything, BUT i just wana know which shrimp would be cool and something i can show off with haha.

Well you would need a very stable water chemistry so ensure the filter media is old and well cycled also the tank should be very well planted with plenty of small caves. I would start with a small collection of amanos as theor fry can't survive in freshwater you won't have a population explosion and they are hardy so good to test the water with as such. I would then get some very high quality Crystal red shrimp and start breeding them taking out the offspring that are not of good colouration and selling them or killing them, once you have a good colony established then start selling the higher quality CRS. They will hybridise with other cardinia species so you can only keep neocardnias with them if you want to keep the line pure.
