Well I've just taken my new Hagen Elite pump set back.
One of the valves didnt work, letting water go back up the pipes, and the whole thing was so noisy that after 15 minutes I had to leave the room (which isnt very convenient as its my bedroom!). And that was after shoving it in a bag of gravel so it couldnt vibrate the floor and tank, and smothering it in two towels.
I saw on another post that tetratec and rena pumps are supposed to be quiet. Are there any that are SILENT? Because I'd prefer to put it on during the night too, but as I said it's my bedroom and I'm quite a light sleeper.
Obviously I'm looking for quality too, something that will last.
Also what size? The reason I ask is that my tank is 60/63 litres, which I think is about 15 gallons. Most pump companies seem to have one that is f0r tanks up to 50 litres, then the next one up goes up to 100.
The Hagen one was for up to 75 litres, and had two holes to plug the tubes into. Using just one made quite a current in my aquarium, and filled the entire surface with bubbles after just a few minutes, so I'm guessing it was too powerful. I doubt my fish would be able to swim straight if I used both (I dont actually have them yet so couldnt test this). I think I'd rather a stream of oxygen, rather than a cascade.
Please help!
even if you can only answer one of my questions
