I'd say Animal House, which is a privately owned store but normally I go to Petsmart which has a bigger selection. AH is alot cheaper than they are on most fish and animals/supplies. I wish they had more fish than PS cuz, for one thing, Petsmart tends to be misinformed about their fish. Once I went in there looking for a betta med because Blue, my betta, his gills were puffing out and the lady told me "bettas don't have gills", well what are those things that stick out when a betta flares then? And they told me all angelfish are verrry ph sensitive which I've been told several times that is not so. Not only did they give me misinformation they confused me about their fish sections too. But....those things are only mild in comparison to what they do with some of their small common goldfish
You all might be very appauled but I warn you. They overstock their goldfish severely, their common goldfish that is. The tank is constantly and I mean almost everytime I am in there, filled up with so many fish from wall to wall inside that tiny 25 gallon aquarium they can not swim and there are lots of dead fish in it. This fish are smushed together in there, with barely any swimming room at all, I'd say at least 200 of them stocked together in one aquarium. I felt sooooo terrible for them. How could they do that? Not only that but once I looked at their hamsters and they had this aquarium with a ceramic house in it, a verry small one and all these poor cute little black teddys (babies) where jam packed, one on top of the other, inside and I wondered if that was normal for them (I have a feeling it was not).I hate to give my money to them but I feel horrible if I don't rescue fish. I do the same with bettas in a petstore if I see their conditions are bad in their little bowls/cups. All this fish (and and animal, in general) abuse is so sickening you wonder how much of a conscious these people have who do these terrible things. Thankfully, the other animals are given better treatment, well I am hoping they are because their conditions seemed better.
From what I've heard, PetCo is no better but which do you all think is the lesser of two evils, PetSmart or PetCo?
