i got my betta last wednsday and he still hasnt eaten. the day after i got him he ate 2 hikari betta pellets but ever since then he has turned his nose to them.

i decided tommarow i will get some frozen food for him in hopes it might kick start his appitite, so im wondering which is better for them frozen bloodworms or frozen brine shrimp? thanks in advance

Hi both are good, try and get some live foods for you betta they love it.That should bring him round. What size of tank you got him in?

Get both! :D Bettas need a wide, varied diet (Just like any other animal) so much variety in frozen, live, and pelleted staple food are all good ideas. :)
I say get both, and perhaps get a few live blackworms. They go nuts!

hes in a heated 2.7 gallon tank, tons of swimming space for him with some silk plants and a castle to sleep in and on. im not sure about the live food though, i can't bring myself around to doing that. i have a really soft spot for animals, including little helpless bugs. its easier i think if there already dead

Bettas are solitary they dont get 'lonely' fish don't have human emotions. Two days isnt really very long if hes new, give him a few more days, when he's hungry he'll eat

I had a betta that it took nearly 2 weeks before he finally ate. The first thing he ate was a pea. Now he eats anything he can. Yours might be just getting use to his new home, once he starts eating he will beg all the time!!

not two days...its been a week since i got him and he only ate 2 pellets on the day after i got him. i heard they can go up to 3 or so weeks with no food so im not really worried, id just feel better if he would eat. if he wont eat the pellets at all is it safe to feed him nothing but the frozen shrimp or worms, or is that only for a suppliment factor in their diet?

lol i tried feeding mine a peice of pea. he kinda pounced on it then took a few little bites and that was it. i think it was too hard for him to chew cuz he could only eat a few speks. it was really cute watching him charge at it though.

I have never had a betta turn their nose up at blood worms in vitamin jelly!....they go hyper at them and it takes ages to feed them as I have to make sure it is fair and they all get the same. The 2 mollies upstairs are so thick they just expect food to float and it take them ages to find anything else! not like my bettas they are soooo clever... :hyper:

Lol. That's what I love about fish. They each have personalities of their own.
