Hi

I have just ordered a new tank as the 4ft i had leaked and could not be repaired so i am starting over again but a smaller one (Seashell Elite 30") and i have heard that an external filter is the best but i do not know which to go with.

The shop have said i would need the Fluval 304.

Any advice would be great.

Please be gentle with me as i am new to this site.

What are the exact dimensions of the aquarium, or what volume does it hold ie: Gallons / Litres. Either answer will do. The filter you mentioned is adaquate up to 70 Gallons. It is recommended up to a maximum of 300ltrs (66 Gallons).
Hope this is of some help...

Hi June :) ,

All of my filters are Fluval's. I think they are great  .

I currently have the 304 external canister running on my 55 gallon along with an internal fluval 3+.

The 304 on its own should be well good enough for your tank and will provide more than adequate filtration.

hope this helps.

I just put 2 fluval 304s on my 75 gallon and love them. They are 100% quiet. You will have to look at the water surface or plants to tell their working. You can also use the hydor inline heaters with them if you want (I did). They are a little more expensive but you are guaranteed that the water passes the heater. I would definitely recommend the fluvals though. You would be much better off buying them online though as they are much cheaper. My local Petsmart sells them for $139.99 while Petsmart online sells them for $79.99. You can also print out the webpage with the price and they will honor it in the stores. I actually ordered mine from Big Als for $72.99 plus shipping.
