Which filter is better to use?

While there will be contention with regard to brand (AquaClear, Penguin, Fluval, etc...), for the most part people agree that a Hang On Back (HOB) filter is the way to go with your smaller tank.

They are inexpensive. They are relatively easy to maintain. They are efficient at mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration depending on your needs.

I would avoid undergravel filter altogether. Obsolete technolgy.

And unless you decide on a larger tank size, a canister is probably overkill.

So read some reviews, get some opinions, and make sure you pick one that's rated for tank sizes a bit bigger than yours. You'll be up and running in no time!
