I'd rather get the more expensive one for quality but don't know if it'll be too powerful

It wont be too powerfull, 1000lph is nothign really, even tiny powerheads are more powerfull, use a spraybar for the return and you'll have no problems

Hi, Check out www.livingseas.co.uk for your eheims.....they have the 2028 listed for £133.95 if you mention seeing the advert in practical fishkeeping magazine. phone number is 01305 773380 or 01305 766090. Hope this helps. post and packaging is free too.

I seem to have said already that.... oh heck, buy what you like!

The bigger filter will be fine, I have an eheim 2217 on a 40 gallon, just make sure you can fit the canister in the cupboard

The filter i have in that tank now is ultra jet pro £80, and its 1000L/H, the one im looking at is 1050L/H, does that mean they're about the same?

Ill be honest with you, im not familiar with the ultra jet, if you can find a page with specs ill have a look.

I take its its an external filter?

If so the eheim will almost definately be a better quality and probably quieter as they are the best but effectively they are just a plastic box with water passing through so they will do the same job.

If it was the case that you were having noise or some other problem, then I would think about the eheim but its alot of money if you already have an external.

Setting up a 40 gal puffer tank so im taking my old filter and putting it in there so the tank will be ready to go right away, and ill get a better filter for my 50 gal discus. I think the eheim im looking at has three try compartments and my other has two, looks bigger than mine, must be better.

Eheim Professionel II External Filter 2028:
Aquarium Size: 158 gal
Pump Output: 277 gph
Filter Circulation: 198 gph
Delivery Head: 6` 7"
Filter Volume: 1.9 gal
Power Consumption: 25 W
Filter Height: 17.9"
Weight: 12.5 lbs
Eheim 2028 / 2128 for Aquaria up to 132gal / 600 lts

Sure it'll be okay in a 50 gal?

With the Eheim Professionel II is the Push to Prime technology a big part of the price? Is there any good make externals that are not push to prime with the same high quality of this filter?

"Thanks to the ingenious "PUSH II PRIME" pump head, the new Pro II filters are the easiest canister filters to prime. Depressing the pump head automatically activates the integrated priming system, instantly starting water flow into the filter unit. Once the canister has completely filled with water, just "plug and play". A new maintenance indicator allows a visual check of the current filter condition, taking the guess work out of planning filter maintenance."
