Left the tank running for a week then added six danios. This was before I realised there was such a thing as a fishless cycle. All six are still alive and well though :)

I did a cycle with livebearers mainly, but that was 5 years ago. When i set up my tank about 1 month after i moved house, i let it run for about 4-5 days with the old filter i kept moist for a month! :fun: And it was ready for fish! But if i had to cycle agaoin, id do it fishless....maybe.... :shifty:

so if I run her filter in my tank will everything be cycled when I move it ? how long should I 'age' the filter for ? :dunno:
A week or two, you should also take some gravel/ other substrate from the already running tank, that helps too

After the filter has been in the new tank for a day, add some small fish, then over the next week or so keep on gradually building up the number of fish in the tank until you have your desired stock :)

How did you keep it moist for a month?
Sounds dodgy but somehow I guess things don't seem to go mouldy in a fish tank anyway even though they are consistantly wet.
Did you not bring your fish with you when you moved?
Just curious, its something to learn from :D
