Which Co2 Diffuser For A Co2 Mist!

Aqua essentials have loads of diffusers, i now have a pressurised cylinder but i don`t know what diffuser to go for. The ADA beetle seems like the diffuser of choice but at £100 near enough i can`t justify buying it!

I`m trying to go for Barrs CO2 mist style delivery!

I've got one of them.

Wouldn't say it's a "mist" of CO2, but a stream of tiny bubbles, for such a big ceramic disc, bubbles escape from a fraction of the surface area.

My filter! I have a pressurized cylinder, jbj regulator, needle, bubble counter, and a pipe heading to filter intake. This way you don't lose one bubble of CO2

If you want a glasss diffuser the FishVets products are good, I have two bubble counter/diffusers XL and they work perfectly....

I use mist type diffusors. I've got a Dennerle micro-perler and an ADA beetle counter-both do pretty much the same thing, except one looks the business and cost a fair few coins more! I've used spiral JBL diffusors and ladder type diffusers, but just prefer the mist as I think it is a particularly effective way of getting CO2 in. End of the day they all do a similar job I think-how much you want to pay is the question.

Harlequin, you are correct, it does depend on how much i am willing to pay. Basically i can`t afford the ADA at £95 and i am prepared to pay £60 tops! that leaves me the choice of pretty much ANY other diffuser from Aqua essentials own and fishvet!

The problem therefore still stands....since the choice is enormous and i don`t know which i would get a better mist from!

EDIT: just looked, pitty Aqua Essentials only have the XL in and my tanks on 20g so i think i only need the normal! You recon that it produces a pretty good mist then, before i take the plunge and buy one?

I can't comment on others, but I have this one in my 19US gallon and it's great It creates a steady very fine haze/stream of tiny bubbles.

Why don't you try asking Richard at AE - he gave me some good advice

i've just ordered the bigger version for my new tank. fingers crossed everything goes well! mind you AE don't sell crap do they?

As far as I can tell they all do pretty much the same job. For what its worth Ive used this one but borke it during a tank clean, as I snapped it in half. I have now got this one but haven't hooked it up yet.

The Dennerle one I use is pretty good for the price (~£16). It is all plastic and can be taken apart for cleaning. The ceramic disc can be removed and cleaned-it is like a Refresher! I bleach it to get any algae off. The only problem is that the CO2 tube connects to a tube beneath the diffuser with no bend so you have to bend the tubing through 180 degrees-since the CO2 proof line is pretty stiff this can cause problems keeping it upright in the tank. That is overcome in the ADA models and the fishvet ones too (although I've personally never used them). From comments I've seen, I reckon the fishvet ones look pretty good. For the record, the ADA diffusers are very high quality lab grade glass-really sturdy stuff.

Interesting, I guess this is where the cost comes from. You wouldn't want to be breaking it at nearly 100quid!

You're not wrong! I only get it out in a room with a carpet and only then to ogle it now and again!!
