Which Boardband?

which if u reply on ur ip then because it's a dynamic ip every time it disconnects it give u a differnet ip

Nearly every ISP provides dynamic IP's unless you request (and often pay extra for) a static one.

And what's the problem with a dynamic IP? 99% of users wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

AOL are crap though.

if u read wot i put i said IF U RELEY ON UR IP i dint say u would notice i thought i would just stat a fact incase it could be an issue for him.

tiscali are extorniate-i signed up for a £14.99pm package and have since been paying nearer the £45 mark, every month, includes broaband and phone and calls( all day everyday) i rarley use the phone tho as i always text. im not very good at getting round to complaining tho, not when i know i will be on hold to someone shanghai for 20 mins.
these packages have to looked into sooo carefully as, most of them say "up to 8meg" and infact you only get 2 meg... must be one of of the easiest rip offs ever, unless you look into it

Am fighting with AOL atm. just changed house and tried to cancel. But they are telling me a still got a 10 month contract......... I moved house in March 07 and moved the 2 year old account to new address which took over 5 months to be activated in that time they still took payment. The idiots then signed us up to contract instead of a transfer... we only found out last week.

I have rang 3 times now each rep giving me a different story and when I finally got it sorted on Sunday the person said I could cancel this wed without charge. I phone up to do so guess what? Had a rep tell me am stuck on a 10 month contract. That’s just say I ended up cursing and telling them am taking them to small claims court

Avoid AOL!!!!

thinking about going with tiscali. £19.99 unlimited and line rental and free calls included

lol hey guys just a little update.

Well we spent many more months fighting with them. The debit card which was used to set aol up expired and we thought instead of fighting with them we just not pay them. Well they where still able to take payments after the card had expired and we could not even stop it at the bank. Bank old us we had to close the account down and open new account.... as the bank was legally bound to keep paying them from our account

So after an hour on the phone to AOL me my mum and my partner all spent some time arguing with them trying to cancel. We kept getting shifted over to different reps each telling us a different story. They even said we took out a new contract in June and had 10 more months to go!! Now this was when we phoned up to cancel!!

We asked about 6 times to speak to a manager but kept getting told there was none. In the end we got to speak to one a level 2 as they call it.. They would not let us speak to one last time we called...

Now we hope this is it finished as he told us the account is now canceled and we will be getting a 5 month refund in 30 days

Avoid at all costs

thing is, you only, really, get two choices. a line, provided by BT, or cable from Virgin/Telewest. apart from customer service, all the connections provided by a BT line: Tiscali, Sky, Aol et al. will all give similar performance. which tends to be 2-3mb on a line stated as 8mb. wireless Broadband is getting to the point, where BT, could loose their grip on most of the Broadband in the UK. so wireless may be worth a look, especially if your mobile is up for a new contract. Virgin offer good speed and reasonable pricing. but the do have a, comparatively slow "upload" rate up to 20mb down but only 760kb up at best! they are also known for creative accounting, so a close eye needs to be kept on your bill.

What ever you do DONT GO WITH BT, the service they provide is shambolic, if a problem occurs and you need to ring there call line you have to wait arround half an hour before they pick up the phone, then they dont understand what you are saying and dont know how to help so pass you on to another member of staff who then passes you on to another and goes arround in circles for like 3 hours. You carnt cancel the contract once it starts (the service is generally fine until your canceling period ends after 14 days). They want to take more money out of your bank than what they should.

Put it this way once my contract ends i will be moving to another company! I would never recommened them to anyone. It is the worst mistake of my life joining with BT Boardband.

you too?..... BT are total and utter crap.... & thats being nice as I will only get into trouble if i type what I really think... even worse than tiscali & I thought that would be an achievement.

O2 and sky are both reputed to be good,

for most users bandwidth is determined by how much your isp throttles your account, I know I can get over 6mb sustained, but at the mo never get 2 & get disconnected every 15-20 mins.

I'm with Virgin over a year and have no problems. Was paying £10 a month for the first year, but after a year this went up to £18.So i phoned them and said "look ,i've no problems with the service, and i'm not threatening to leave,i just think it's a bit dear for 2mb".And the girl said "Ok,we'll reduce it to £10 for another 6 months.Anything else sir" .Easy as that.Honesty pays!!

first you should find out what is available to you
no point saying virgin media is best if you don't live in a cabled area (like me)
so try this as a starting point
http://www.broadbandchecker.co.uk/

once you submit your postcode it gives you a list of all providers that you can have broadband from and then choose the best one for you and your budget.

virgin is the best company ive been with ,and there service is great,if you have a fault there out next day ,and ringing them is all free
