I'm thinking about getting a small aquarium. Due to lack of space in my bedroom, I'm going to have to stick with a 5-gallon tank. I will either get 1 betta for it, or 3 small fish (probably tetras).

These are the 2 aquariums I am looking at. Does anyone have either of these? Are they quiet or noisy? The aquarium will be in my bedroom, so I'd like a quiet one. Any comments on either? Will I need to buy a heater? If so, what kind?

Shame you are not in the UK as I have the perfect little 28ltr tank on a cabinet which would do you fine! :shifty:

Looked at what you are considering getting. My advice would be to save a little more and try getting a GLASS tank. The acrylic ones do tend to scratch easily.

I have heard that the acrylic ones scratch, but I currently have a 2 gallon acrylic tank for my betta and it hasn't scratched at all! :good: I've had it for almost a year.

But if I did find a small glass one, I'd consider buying it.

I'd stick with the Betta. As small as Neons are, they're really not suitable as first fish in a tank and they need much more swimming room than you'd think. Also, like most Tetras, they prefer to be in groups of at least 5/6, which would also rule them out of a 5G.

robert, that one you posted is acrylic.

Are there any small fish (besides bettas) that would be suitable for a 5 gallon?

This one also seems nice, and it's a 6 gallon.
6 Gallon Tank

I have the 12 gallon version of the Marineland Eclipse tank, and I really like it. The filter is pretty quite since it is built into the hood.

shame you're not up north Dorsey! Im looking for a smaller tank to house a few fish! :p

Now, I'm thinking I might just want to get another betta. I still have to think about it, though. :fish:

If I do get another betta, I might just get the same tank I got for Chase, which is this tank. I know some of you believe that bettas shouldn't be kept in less than 5 gallons, but this one has worked fine for me.

2 Gallon Hex Tank

I have the 2.5 mini bow aquarium, not the 5gallon like your looking at. However I like it, it's quite small though. As for the 5 gallon tank and what you could put in you could put in shrimps of sorts, or african dwarf frogs. I have them and love the little guy.

Good Luck with your decision! :good:
