Wheres She Gone?

'Dot' my plecs dissapeared

I've looked everywhere (behind rocks, in the plants, even in my filter) and i can't find her anywhere.

Surely my 3 lady convicts (only around an inch big each) and my RTBS couldnt have killed her, and eaten all of her overnight? She was around 5 or 6 inches long.

might sound stupid but mine used to hide under the gravel for days at a time. how deep is ur gravel???

Probably around 2 inches deep at the front, and around 4 at the back. Hide under the gravel though? That must have worried you a fair few times, wondering where your plec had gone

Do you think i should maybe move the gravel a bit, just to see if she is under there?

yeah i would try it. dont use your hands though. if u have a long glass cleaner try that. i would try at the back where it is deep first. what sort of plec is it

after looking around, i'v found out that its a Snow Ball Pleco

Ive lost 2 platys in a day before and they were never found still remains a mystery in my peaceful tank. Ive also lost a cherry barb which was found in a filter a week later (still alive). None of these fish were 6 inches long though, I think she will turn up good luck.

How big is the RTBS? these can be very nasty, and may have harrassed your plec to ill health....

As for where its gone... has it jumped out?

RTBS is around 2 1/2 inches long. The plec was in there before i turned the lights off last night, and then wasnt when i turned them on this morning, and the lid hasnt been opened since. I also looked round the tank on the floor as the laptop was booting up

FOUND IT

She's managed to get herself inside my filter next to the pump head. So gonna work out a way to stop this from happening again.

Really has scared cr@p out of me.

managed to get her out, and then went to pets at home to get one of the cradles for a Fluval 3 Plus which i've got, so swapped the standard juwel filter for that while i was at it

Glad you found her
One of my plecs used to do that in his old tank, when the lights went off every night he would get into the tiny gap between the heater and filter compartments and he would stay there until morning when the lights came on and he would come back out cuz he knew he was gonna get some breakfast lol.
