Hi folks

I have a biorb 30 litre. At the moment the pump is sitting next to the tank and looks quite ugly to be honest.

I'm thinking about putting the pump in the cupboard below the tank - but someone told me the pump shouldn't be placed any lower than a tank.

Anyone got any idea if this is correct?

Thanks in advance!

Ben

the pump shouldn't be placed any lower because it can act like a syphon. You can get a switch which goes on the tubing to stop it syphoning the water out.

Also known as a check valve or one-way valve, there very cheap and vital IMHO :good:

Thanks folks!

So just to confirm, if I fit one of these valves then I can indeed place the pump beneath the tank?

Cheers

Correct. They only cost lik $1.50, so it won't hurt to buy them. It helps the pump from back siphoning and ruining the pump. I prefer to have one on all of my air pumps. A great safety measure to have.
