hi,
i'm also looking for a recommended online fish store. I want some hatchetfish. Has anyone any recommendations?

You should definitely try tri-mar.

Excuse the bad pun.

i might cause trouble saying this but i went to pinxton a few weeks ago and though they had a good selection of fish, i still much prefer my lfs to wharf aquatics - personal preferance i suppose!

cheers for the replys i shall give Trimar a look, and was planning on going to pinxton soon, any more for any more???

According to Maidenhead Aquatics website, they are planning to open a branch in Lincoln, and another near me. They seem to get good comments from people who use them. The website doesn't give any details yet, such as addresses or opening dates, so I intend keeping an eye on the website until the details are posted.

I rang maidenhead at east brigford an they don't sell the particular fish i'm looking for, an the one their opening is gonna be at whisby garden centre, not sure when it will be open tho, lets just hope that there bringing in new staff when they open it, or at least give them proper training first, as staff previously at whisby no not alot at all an was always dead fish in most the tanks! :/ (sorry for going on but it doe's annoy me)

Maidenhead at Crowland, just outside Peterborough, is an awesome store, voted the besi Maidenhead in the country and isn't that far from Lincoln.

I am going over there on 22nd March and trying to gt a few people to join me. See this link for more information........

MEET AT MAIDENHEAD

When I was looking for fish (when I had some space left in my tanks) I used to visit quite a few local lfss - because it was fun to visit and if they didn't have anything I wanted, I could wait. I never got as far as Lincolnshire but -

In Notts:
  1. The World of Water at Lowdham Lane, Woodborough - a bit supermarkety but often have a good selection - and they will order things in for you. Then, just round the corner ....
  2. The Aquatic Centre at Tall Trees, Bulcote - are a bit strange (they use rain water in their tanks and don't believe in lots of water changes) but very enthusiastic and know their fish
  3. Wharf Aquatics at Pinxton - can be a bit impersonal - but they often have some lovely and unusual fish
  4. East Midlands Aquatic Centre at Nottingham Road, Trowell - basically someones' garage and they specialise in Marine - but they do have some really healthy freshwater fish and are real enthusiasts
In Leics:
  1. Birstall Watergardens - very small but some nice plants (if they haven't sold them all on-line) and some unusual fish - I was tempted by some Chocolate gouramis when I was there last - but resisted!
  2. Friends in Soggy Homes - Wanlip Lane, Birstall - small and friendly - with some nice fish
If you're looking for something in particular - you could obviously phone them before you go.

The one I go to regularly is Bardills - because they're really close and they sell live food. But they irritate me by not taking any unwanted fish from customers.
