I'm a pressman in the commercial printing industry. Been doing it for nearly 32 years now. A typical day goes punch in, run something like this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWxcRF-1Hog&feature=related

Then punch out.

I'm also the father of a 29 year old, 27 year old, and a 21 year old. Parenthood is a 24/7 job, you never get to punch out, you never get to retire. It's more difficult than running a press, but I like it a lot more than printing.

Uggg.. jobs... well let's see..

I'm a single mother of 3 boys ages 15, 10, & 9.
I train and compete with German Shepherds in Schutzhund.
I co-teach an obedience class for my local park district.
I work full time as an In-Home Care Personal Assistant.

My "boss" is 70 years old, blind, wheelchair bound, suffers from COPD so he is on oxygen, recovering alcholic. I cook, clean, pay his bills, keep him company, do his shopping, yardwork, take care of his dogs and his parrot, etc. I put up with things like him backing his wheelchair in front of his bedroom door when he is mad at me so I can't open the door! Temper tantrums and basic whining. He's like a very large 3 year old sometimes! I'm a glorified babysitter. It's not a hard physical job but it sure gets mental sometimes!

oh.. technically I work for the Department of Rehabilitation Services. It's cheaper if they pay us 30k a year than putting someone in a nursing home.

i am currently working for the tax department in my state. i answer phone calls from (mostly angry) taxpayers. it is a crazy job and you never know what the day will bring. amusing at times, but also rather frustrating. certainly not my "dream job" by any means, but the benefits alone keep me going in to work everyday. and i adore my coworkers!!! great people. i also teach Biology two nights a week at an area high school. mostly teach folks looking to get into nursing school programs and need a "refresher" course before they head off to the nursing path. it is VERY rewarding job and id do it full time if i had the opportunity (never would i teach high school again-been there, done that:).
but ive had a list of jobs since graduating from college-
waited tables for 3 years
sailed on tallships as a deckhand for a year and a half and got paid to travel to some amazing places!
worked for the dept of environmental conservation as a field instructor (teaching all ages about nature/ecology)
worked for DEC as a field grunt pulling seines in the Hudson River tidal marshes taking surveys of the fish (measurements and id on anything we pulled up in the nets. released them upon "inspection/measuring) and taking plant surveys/ soil samples. GREAT job!! too bad that study ended after my second year. loved it!
also briefly taught high school math (geometry and trig-did not like his job!).
so there is me in a nutshell. a far cry from what i went to college for. but not too much marine science in these parts :)
cheers!
