Where Do I Post About Silver Dollars?

Once they feel comfortable in your tank, they'll eat their way through your plants within 48 hours.
Please note that Silver Dollars can not live of flake and will not accept any meaty foods at all. You will Have to feed them lettuce, spinach and other green foods on a daily base.

 My silver dollars obviously didnt read the handbook then as they demolish any meaty foods they can steal off the predators they share a tank with, even if veggies are in the tank (as they are daily) they will stop nibbling on them and make a dash to get at the frozen fish, mussels or whatever meaty frozen food i'm serving up that night. Some sources state that wild silver dollars will hunt down and eat very small fish so prehaps they arent the peacefull vegetarians that everyone thinks they are?

>>> prehaps they arent the peacefull vegetarians

If a fish can get something edible into it's mouth, it will sooner or later.

I don't think any fish in the world will turn down meaty foods. Some will keep right on eating it until they keel over from digestion problems. The idea is to provide food that's good for them, not what they eat the fastest. Anyway, no Silver Dollar will die from some meat, but it's best for them if most of the diet isn't.

I think mine cant read either as they fight for the whitebait, prawns, mussels, squid and other meaty foods that go in at feeding time. This is suplimented every other day with veggie tabs.

Mine are just the common silver dollar Metynnis argenteus, the one that most information is based on. One thing we musn't forget is that SD's, are very closely related to pirahna's belonging to the same family of Serrasalmidae ;)
