Kept my 3 in a 55 gal with an external filter recommended for a tank of 1000 litres none of them ever had nipped fins and so on. I fed them once every two - three days mainly on frozen fish, chicken, beefheart, krill, shrimp, bloodworm and the odd frozen mouse. I did a tank clean (30% water change) and syphoned the sand once every 2 weeks. I had them at around an inch in length, iv recently rehomed them due to wanting something a bit different and they got to the biggest being around 8 inch to the smallest being around 6. They are not as dangerous as most people think... Unless its feeding time.

Haha sorry. I started off with 4 but they were that small when I first got them that 1 got stuck in the filter and died. I rehomed the other 3 couple of weeks back and now have a tiger Oscar, firemouth and a Senegal birchir.

I don't care about tank size i just want to know if in Los Angeles they sell it or not.

You'd need a pretty large tank to house them I'd assume. Why'd you want to know if they sold them if you're not planning on keeping them?
Also most LFS could special order you some.
