do u shut off the equipment everytime b4 doing so,like, the heater, filters and watnot?

do you mean like water changes and a bit of cleaning?
well i turn off my heater because the water level cant go below a certain point. I leave my filter on unless the water level gets lower than the intake.

I turn off everything and leave it for ten minutes otherwise the heater could crack because it wouldn't be heating any water. Maybe in the ten minutes you could remove plants, rocks, ornaments etc...

depends on the task at hand, if it's just scrapping algea off the side I leave everything on, if it's doing a water change I leave everything on, removing the gravel to give it a good cleaning I turn everything off and remove all the plants, rocks, heater and filter from the tank...

i just turn the heaters off unless im doing a big water change or obviously cleaning the filters

I used to let everything on excpet filters..now i turn eveything off

We turn off the air pump, as this resides on the top of the tank, as we havent got around to getting one of them thingys to stop the backflow of water yet, so has to be kept higher than the tank.

We leave the heater and filter on. But the water level doesn't go lower than the intake, and it's only down for the amount of time it takes me to get my bloke to carry the bucket of fresh water in! lol

Cleaning takes a while longer and the angels like to get in the way and stop me scraping!

I'll turn off the power filters on the one tank that has them if the water level will drop below the intake. All my heaters are submersable, and on a GFI circuit, I place them low & don't worry about them.

i leave everything on
i have the heater and filters positioned so i dont have to worry about the water level drop.
i avoid turning the filters off coz sometimes i get problems restarting them

just read that some of you remove your plants (sorry if i am hijacking thread)

Wouldnt this unsettle them everytime you do this and they will never get established or are we talking floating flora etc?

I turn everything off too - noise of the spray bar still going on a partially empty tank drives me crazy

What is it with Angels, mine do that too - it's like they want to have a go at scraping "my turn, my turn" lol
