Hey everyone, checked in on the babies this morning and a few of them are out of the nest and floating along the top, being totally ignored by the dad. They aren't floating vertically, and they are alive. I put some powdered bloodworms in the tank (Didn't want to waste my live food if they were, in fact goners) and they swam right over and gobbled it up!)

The rest of the babies however, haven't seemed to have left the nest. Any ideas on when I should seperate?

If he's ignoring them, then go ahead and pull him. His job is done and you take the risk of him making lunch of the kids if he's not being zealous about it.

I'm surprised they ate the powdered bloodworms! That's pretty cool. Be careful and don't overfeed them dry foods, they pollute the water quickly.

Thank you very much! I'm not going to put any more in until they gobble up all the wonderful live food I have for them!
