Hi

Recently I had a disease outbreak in my tank which finished off:
1 dwarf gourami
1 male ram
1 guppy
and 2 tetras

I didn't 100% id the infectetion but the guy in my local fish store suggested shimmies and gave me some medicine to treat with - this seems to have cleared it up (I posted in tropical fish emergencies a couple of weeks ago if you want to see symptoms etc....). I haven't lost any fish for over a week and am no longer treating.

My question is when should I replace the deceased fish? most importanly the ram and gourami as I now have a female ram and a female gourami with no partner, they don't apear distressed by this at the moment but I am worried that they will later. secondly the tetras as I now have a group of 4 and I know they like to be in larger groups.

Is it important to replace the gourami? or can female live alone? The reason I ask is because my usual lfs does not stock the dwarf variety so I purchased from elsewhere, only a short while before the disease outbreak so I am worried that they were the cause of the infection to the other fish and would rather not risk re-infecting them. I have also read on the forum a lot since about dwarf gouramis being quite disease ridden.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. I am happy to wait to re-stock as long asmy fish won't be stressed!

Thanks
Emma

Oh and I forgot to say. The fish that survived are:

1 female dwarf gourami
1 female ram
4 neon tetras (sex unknown!)
2 male and 2 female pentazona barbs

They all look quite happy and colourful at the moment.
