when can i move convict fry and the female to another tank as the one there in now has a whole lot of algea, so i want to clean it out.

You can move them whenever they are free swimming.

I'd wait 2 weeks and then move them. They'll be fish food to the parents once another brood comes along anyways.

Interesting..... i have been breeding Convicts for about a year now and have different set-ups and have had many different parents, they have NEVER eaten fry, even once they breed again, the only problem you will have is the fry eating the new-borns (i.e. bigger fry eating smaller fry)

It's definitely not the norm, imo. I've had only a couple batches (out of hundreds maybe) get eaten by the parents but I hear of others that have had it happen more often.

I don't know the link to it, maybe I wasn't feeding the older fry enough? IME, once there's another batch of fry the older ones are treated like other fish if they try eating the younger fry.

Maybe others can post their experiences also. :)
