When my shrimp or crabs sheds, should I leave the exto in the tank, or take it out?

I leave mine inm the tank . Others remove it. Mine stay there as its used to break down and be a source of food/calcium for the tank

Interesting, I have taken em out so far. I was worried about ammonia being released into the tank from those. I guess I can leave them in then :D

Most of the time you're not gonna find the shells when things molt. It's not gonna harm anything to leave them in. Heck, if saltwater shrimp are anything like the Amano shrimp that I have in my FW tank..... they'll turn around and eat the stuff. The first time I saw my amano shrimp molt, I thought it was amazing. Then a few minutes later, it picked up the old exoskeleton and started chowing down on it. It was gone in about 30 seconds!

ok, next time I'll leave them.

The first time it shedded scared the crap outa me. I saw this white shape, still in great detail, and I could not find my shrimp anywhere! I thought it had died! lol. Silly me.
