sorry everyone but you have to read this,

for the record my opinion is wicked idea and very well put together but not entirely sure of the morality of the project (memories of handbag betta tank spring to mind)

enjoy,

Very odd indeed :/ can't say I find the idea appealing either
but weird and wacky it certainly is !
And on second though, inconsistent heat, and the fact that water & electricity in such close proximities are just "no-no's" makes it a very bad idea indeed.....

I'm estimating that this tank is what, 5 gallons perhaps? Frankly, it's a pretty neat mini-tank. Like the old apple idea, except you can use the computer. Useless and stupid, but kind of neat.

MMMM wonder if i can expand my water cooling on me pc lol

Thats a cool idea but as said i would never personally mix electrics and water like that... You never know when there might be a leak, or you might nock the desk and the water splashes over the side and into the PSU.

Also 10 Neons is a bit much for 2 Gallons, I'd have only kept a maximum of 6 in there, although it should be ok with regular water changes.

Ben

now i would have to keep cold water fish in it....

and then use it as the resovoiur for a water cooling kit :)

Its an interesting idea but in no way practical or very safe, all those wires and water would be my first concern, but....
£719.55's FOR A 2GAL TANK AND 10 NEONS :hyper: !!!??? NO WAY :/ :S !!!
im sorry but i rather get a nice 100gal setup and fish than a 2gal tank with neons for £719.55's...
Bad choice of fish for the project too, neons are fragile and 10 is too many even for a 5gal tank...

lol good point! Bit pricey

Besides it would only end up in zapped fish, electricuted you and alot of mess lol

er, actually 1 of 2 things would happen if that was done:

(1) the reservoir would have cool water pumped out and HOT water pumped in. the temperature elevation during runtime would be completely unstable and also a bit on the high side-->fishy death (especially for a cold-water specimen)

(2) the reservoir would have cool water pumped out and no water returned. the water level would slowly lower through the course of a gaming session until the tank emptied-->fishy death

if you'll look at the bottom of the page at the FAQ section, the guy even says that he couldn't figure out a fish-safe way of integrating this into a water cooling system.

Hmm lets see what i could get for £719.55...;
a. a nice second hand car
b. a state of the art laptop
c. a stylish out door barbeque set B)
d. 70,069 one penny sweets :hyper:
e. a 2gal tank with 10neons which cooks them  ???

I think these nerds have too much time and money on their hands and should venture into the world beyond the computer desk

I'd looove that amount of money :) That would be plenty for the 50g I want:) And with the leftover cash I'd stock all my tanks, buy lots of bettas and buy more tanks:)

that must be after taxes :p

actually, it looks like about half that is mod-equipment expenditures which could be reapplied to future excursions into custom computer cases. er, in english, that means only half actually went into this specific project and the rest of the stuff he spent money would be equally useful in future projects.

of course, its still a silly way to spend 700 quid.
